How to Upload Gallery Images

This article will explain how to upload gallery images to an iGUIDE. Gallery images can be uploaded both during and after iGUIDE creation.

Instructions for both methods can be found under the headings below.

Method 1: Upload during iGUIDE Creation

Please follow the steps below.

1. On the +Create iGUIDE page scroll down to the Upload Data section.

2. The last section of the Upload Data is called Upload Images. Here there is a grey rectangle that indicates dragging and dropping gallery images.

1. Click to select it. This will open up the computer’s file folder where the user can search for and upload images.

Method 2: Upload after iGUIDE Creation

• If the iGUIDE URL has already been created and requires additional images follow the steps below:

1. Find the iGUIDE in the My iGUIDEs tab on the iGUIDE Portal.

2. Click on the Upload to iGUIDE Gallery tab. Refer to Figure 2.

This opens up the Edit Gallery page within the iGUIDE. There will be the ability to drag and drop images or click to select images. Refer to Figure 3

1. Click to select images or drag and drop images. Underneath the grey drag-and-drop images rectangle are options and notes.

The options include:

• Appending uploaded images to galleries of all iGUIDE Views

• Append images only to the Default View Gallery

• Just upload the images to the iGUIDE gallery.

Notes include:

• Maximum image size

• The maximum number of images in the gallery, etc.

1. Once all of the images have been successfully uploaded click on Edit Default View. While on the Default View page, the images can be viewed, reordered, and edited.

Technical Issues with Uploaded Images

The iGUIDE Portal and many browsers ignore auxiliary image information stored in EXIF headers and embedded color profiles.

Common problems in such cases include:

• Images rotated 90 degrees (rotation information was stored in EXIF header)

• Discoloration of images (color profile, sometimes incompatible with monitors such as printer CMYK, was embedded into the image).

To avoid these problems:

• Do not embed color profiles into images.

• Export them with sRGB color profile

• Strip EXIF headers

• Verify image orientation without the EXIF headers.
